In April this year we reported that Activision registered a domain for GoldenEye suggesting that a game was on the way. And earlier this month there were reports that the company would announce a GoldenEye title at E3, due out in November. Now as the E3 news keeps flooding in, Activision Publishing has unveiled its all-new GolderEye 007 developed exclusively for the Wii and based on the GoldenEye film.

The game allows players to use the gritty style of Daniel Craig’s James Bond against an arms syndicate threatening the world. GoldenEye 007 provides an innovative and modern take on the GoldenEye movie adventure. The game is playable in Nintendo’s booth at the E3 in Los Angeles.
“GoldenEye for the N64 was one of the most acclaimed games and fans regularly cite it as one of the most influential and important titles in history,” David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing stated. “We’re thrilled to bring the new GoldenEye 007 to gamers around the world as an all-new adventure that seamlessly integrates nostalgic GoldenEye movie moments with innovative FPS gameplay and unique multiplayer action that is unrivaled on the platform.”
GoldenEye 007 has four-player split-screen multiplayer options which encourage social gaming. It features a total of 40 characters and includes 8 classic Bond characters, 5 maps, 3 standard modes, and 16 special modifiers which allow for hundreds of game combinations. Seasoned FPS online gamers will be impressed with the game’s online multiplayer for up to 8 players with unique modes and an XP system for achievements and unlockables. The game can either be played with Classic Controller Pro for those who like standard FPS controls as well as the Wii Zapper for those who enjoy a more immersive point-and-shoot style.
GoldenEye 007 is developed by Eurocom under license from Eon Productions and MGM Studios. The game is scheduled to launch this holiday season exclusively for the Wii.
