E3 2010: Nintendo Reveals Wii and DS Line-up

At this year’s E3 Nintendo revealed its successor to the DSi, a handheld capable of playing 3D games without the need for special glasses, calling it the Nintendo 3DS. The company also revealed a line-up of titles for the new console. Now Nintendo sends word of the games coming to the Wii console as well as to the DS family of video game systems.

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

“If the video game industry had an All-Star team, Nintendo’s games would fill the starting lineup,” Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing remarked. “The combination of advanced interface and engaging game play broadens our appeal to all audiences. This is evidenced perfectly at the E3 Expo this year by the incredible new experience and controls that Wii MotionPlus brings to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.”

For the Wii the line-up includes The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which introduces full motion controls thanks to the Wii MotionPlus accessory. Scheduled to launch in 2011, the game offers the most intuitive play control of any Legend of Zelda game to date. Coming to the Wii this holiday season is Donkey Kong Country Returns which marks the return of the classic franchise with new levels and updated graphics. Kirby’s Epic Yarn is another for the Wii, and scheduled to launch this fall. Kirby is made from yarn and has the ability to transform into the shape of a car, a parachute, a submarine or a UFO.

Other Wii games include Wii Party, Mario Sports Mix, PokePark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure, Samurai Warriors 3, NBA JAM, Just Dance 2, Sonic Colours, New Carnival Games, Disney Epic Monkey, and GoldenEye 007 from Actvision, the Wii-exclusive sequel which features four-player split-screen and up to eight player online multiplayer. GoldenEye 007 is scheduled to launch this fall.

The Nintendo DS family of consoles gets Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, and Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies which is scheduled to launch on July 11, 2010 and features cooperative multiplayer, character customisation and an epic story. Other DS games include Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Miniland Mayhem, Super Scribblenauts, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Rock Band 3, Okamiden, Sonic Colors, and Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light.
