Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Release Date Announced

Square Enix has just announced the release date of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. This title will be outed in Europe and PAL territories exclusively for the 3DS on July 20, while its North American launch is scheduled for July 21, 2012. Details regarding the game were earlier divulged through the Nintendo Direct stream a few days back.

First disclosed at 2010’s E3, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance has been developed and published by Square Enix. In fact, it has been created by the same team that brought us Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep in 2010. KH3D will be the seventh installment to the popular series, and it will take place after the events that transpired in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. It will focus on player characters Sora and Riku’s Mark of Mastery exam in preparation for the return of their enemy, Xehanort.

This action RPG series from Sqaure Enix fuses the worlds of Final Fantasy and Disney together, and feature interaction by these characters in various environments from both the franchises. The first such title, Kingdom Hearts, was released way back in 2002 for the PS2, and the last game to be launched under the banner was 2011’s Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be released for the 3DS on the dates we’ve mentioned above. It can be pre-ordered currently at a price of 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,100).
