Sony Speaks About Nintendo DSi and Its User Base

It’s just been a few days since the Nintendo DSi has been revealed. What about Sony? Though they are having a good time in Japan because of their handheld gaming console the PSP, they haven’t announced anything major. Now John Koller from Sony has spoken about the Nintendo DSi and questioned whether it can really expand its user base.

Nintendo DSi

Speaking with technology blog Gizmodo, John Koller, the director of hardware marketing at Sony explained, “I can see the DSi being successful. The DS Lite was obviously very successful. Will DSi do well with (the DS’s) demographic? It probably will. Will it be a product that expands their user base (beyond) under 12? I’m not sure.”

According to Koller, Nintendo somewhat has a history of moderate kinds of updates. He pointed out that even with the Nintendo DS Lite, there was a lot of discussion as to was it enough. But adding cameras and making it slimmer has made Nintendo popular with the gamers but let’s hope that besides launching in Japan, the DSi comes to the western shores soon.
