The mid-season break of the Halo 4 Spartan Ops episodes is about to come to an end, even as Microsoft and 343 Industries has announced fresh content heading the way of Xbox 360 gamers. This innovative feature for the game is actually a story-driven episodic mode which can be jumped into solo or cooperatively. Set six months after the events from the main campaign, it delivers new objective-based missions and cinematics each week for players to indulge in.
The remaining part of the Halo 4 Spartan Ops season one will be commencing on January 21, and will be continuing through February 24. Five episodes have been released till date, while episodes 6 to 10 will be marking the final part of this season. These see gamers reenlist with Fireteam Crimson, and search for the Spartan Thorne on planet Requiem. Here, they are faced with the threat of Jul ‘Mdama and his cult of Covenant separatists. A number of new locations featuring vehicular combat and on-foot encounters with Prometheans and Covenant forces have been announced to have been infused into the episodes.
Meanwhile, those who’re yet to play the first half of season one (episodes 1 to 5) can also do so by beginning their Spartan careers. These episodes focus on Captain Lasky, Commander Palmer and Fireteam Majestic, who’re exploring the mysteries of the Forerunner planet of Requiem. This mode can be played solo or cooperatively with two-player split-screen or on Xbox Live with up to three others.
The episodic content had gone on a short hiatus to make way for the game’s Infinity Challenge, the grand prize of which was a F-150 SVT Raptor truck. This title was released by Microsoft exclusively for the Xbox 360 in November last year, and it has since grabbed rave reviews for its incredibly engaging offerings. Its worldwide sales within the first 24 hours of its launch garnered 220 million USD in total, making it the fastest-selling game from the series yet. A first-person shooter, it contains single-player as well as multiplayer gameplay.
Gamers awaiting for the re-launch of Halo 4 Spartan Ops won’t have to wait long, as the content is all set to come out through Xbox Live on January 21.
