The God of War: Ascension demo is indeed coming, and fans can take heed of the fact that it will be arriving as a free download on PSN sometime during February. Moreover, another big piece of information is that the game’s multiplayer beta has entered its open phase, and all PSN account holders from North America alone can now jump into it before it shuts down at midnight PST on Monday. A brand new story trailer for the title has been released by its maker. It can be spotted in the space below.
Through a post on the official PlayStation blog, the God of War: Ascension demo was finally announced by Santa Monica Studio, while also revealing that more details about it will be disclosed soon. It even mentioned that additional information regarding the game’s single-player campaign is slated to be disclosed as we lead up to it release date which is scheduled to fall on March 12 in North America and March 13 in Europe.
Apart from its single-player campaign, it will also be seen carrying a multiplayer component. This will make it the first title from this massive series to kick in such a feature. For testing it, its maker has been running a multiplayer beta since earlier this month. And while access to the beta was only limited for PS Plus subscribers till now, it has officially been thrown open to all other PS3 owners. All they need to do is grab their codes from the game’s site, and redeem them via the PS Store.
The game had made its debut in April through a leak which was followed by an official announcement. A teaser trailer had come to the fore, revealing that it will have its story set before protagonist Kratos became the Ghost of Sparta. Other details about its narrative are still slim however. Upon its launch in March 2013, it will ship in the form of standard copies as well as Collector’s Edition ones which kick in a limited edition Kratos statue among other things.
Those waiting for the God of War: Ascension demo can be rest assured that it will be coming out in February. Its exact release date however, is unclear.
