Xbox 360 Kinect Competitively Priced: Microsoft

Earlier this month we reported that Microsoft revealed that the Xbox 360 Kinect Console Bundle will release this holiday tagged with a price of 299.99 GBP. For the quoted price, players can expect a new Xbox 360 4GB console as well as the Kinect sensor and Kinect Adventures. The Microsoft Kinect Sensor for the Xbox 360 by itself is priced at 149.99 GBP. Apparently some believe the overall cost of the forthcoming offering is a bit too much. However we see Microsoft completely agreeing with the value attached to the Kinect Sensor and bundle.

Microsoft’s group marketing manager Brett Siddons revealed to TechRadar that the Xbox 360 Kinect is competitively priced and players should ‘do the maths’. He defends the price point by saying that the offering has the ability to support up to six players while providing them with a game dubbed as Kinect Adventures. They need not shell anything extra for additional accessories as their body movements function as the controllers.

Brett Siddons commented, “I’ll let you do the maths but when you say Nintendo Wii or PlayStation Move you buy this and this, even for a two player games.” He further added, “What do you need and what do actually have to spend for a two player game for this device versus that device. You actually find that (Kinect) is very competitively priced.”

It seems like the prices for the Sony PlayStation Move would also amount to roughly around the same namely 150 GBP if players wish to buy the basic Move pack along with two Move controllers and two Navigation controllers. We however cannot rule out that Sony might just offer some unannounced packages in the near future.
