After letting Xbox 360 gamers stream live and on-demand sporting events, television shows and movies, the Xbox Live service from Microsoft now gives them the option to book seats for the latest movie releases. Advance movie ticketing website MovieTickets has revealed that it will extend an online movie ticketing solution for Xbox 360 gamers through the Xbox Live in the US.
Joel Cohen, CEO, MovieTickets, commented, “Working with Microsoft and the Xbox brand exposes MovieTickets.com to an entertainment-driven audience, providing the perfect opportunity to engage like-minded users with our online movie ticketing solutions. We’re excited to be the first company allowing users the opportunity to interact with a movie advertising experience on Xbox Live and easily convert it into an online ticket purchase via their mobile device.”
Members of Xbox Live can purchase movie tickets through a text-in or a Microsoft Tag which is manifested in movie studios advertisements. The online marketplace will display ads featuring various movies. Users can click on the commercial to download and interact with content related to that film.
“The agreement with MovieTickets.com provides Microsoft and movie studios another unique way to drive awareness and ticket sales through Xbox Live,” notes Mark Kroese, general manager for the Advertising Business Group at Microsoft. “Not only that, it provides for a great consumer experience.”
Additionally, users can book tickets from their mobile phones as well. To do so, they will need to activate a Microsoft Tag on their handsets. This will lead them to a co-branded website which will facilitate ticket purchases via all domestic MovieTickets theater partners.
With this new agreement, MovieTickets seeks to augment its brand awareness and offer users options which ease their movie viewing experience.
