EA Sports Announces Sports Technology Partnership with Barclays Premier League

Gamers around the world who possess a penchant for football can rejoice with this piece of news. The announcement from the club of EA reveals that EA Sports has become the Official Sports Technology Partner of the Barclays Premier League. It has been stated that this partnership will help the company deliver football-based products which would incorporate enhanced insights and even greater authenticity.

“As the most watched domestic football competition in the world, the Barclays Premier League delivers tremendous global exposure and direct access to one of the most passionate football audiences in the world,” explained Matt Bilbey, Vice President of Football, EA Sports. “Partnering with the Premier League further establishes EA Sports and its FIFA franchise as the ultimate, authentic football gaming experience. We look forward to adding further in-game authenticity with the direct access to the Player Performance Index as well as releasing new ways to leverage our technology to enhance the fans enjoyment of Barclays Premier League football on and beyond match day each week.”

With this arrangement between the two giants, EA Sports will leverage its brand from the world of football on video game screens to actual match scenarios. All live on-screen broadcasts of the tournament will feature EA Sports’ name. In addition, the Electronic Arts brand will also be linked with live match statistics in the UK and other countries. EA Sports will sponsor the player performance index as well as publish the team of the week in conjunction with the Premier League. The player performance index will account comprehensive information including the speed at which a shot is hit, the height of a jump and more.

Superior graphics, animations and interactive technology from the company are said to boost real-time, real world data feeds. This will further advance the viewing experience and yield genuine perspectives for EA Sports. The company plans to employ this experience in future versions of the FIFA series, augmenting video game sessions with enhanced interactivity. Further, it wishes to design the football-based game with details that would match the flair, intricacy and excitement of real football events.

The next installment in the FIFA video game series will be launched this Fall for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, Nintendo DS, PSP and mobile phones.
