So when exactly will we see the PS4 virtual reality headset?

The Sony PS4 is geared up to arrive in its full form this November, and a new tidbit has arrived telling us that we’ll apparently be seeing a virtual reality headset being released for it sometime in the future. Now the point of the debate lies in the fact that two different rumors are making the rounds currently, with one going on to convey that it will be unveiled as early as during the Tokyo Game Show, and the other telling us that Sony will wait until 2014 to reveal it.

Sony 3D Headset

CVG has received word from an anonymous games developer that while Sony had decided to initially unveil the device at this year’s Gamescom, its plans were changed at the last moment for some reason. Which is why the venue has now shifted to the company’s home turf, at the annual Tokyo Game Show which takes place later this month. It is said that the virtual reality goggles resemble Sony’s 3D headset that was showcased back in 2011. Moreover, Evolution Studios is apparently working with the device to be utilized in its upcoming Drive Club.

Meanwhile, Eurogamer has its sources quoting that the headset will only be ready for a showcase in 2014. It tells us that this virtual reality machine will work in a similar manner to that of the Oculus Rift which is gaining a lot of developer support at the moment. The prospects of the Kickstarted product were boosted furthermore recently when id Software co-founder John Carmack was appointed as its Chief Technology Officer.

Right now, there’s obviously no official word about the supposed PS4 virtual reality headset from Sony, but we’ll have more on it when additional details come to the fore.
