DuckTales Remastered announced for summer release

Getting us all worked up this morning is the announcement of DuckTales Remastered by Capcom, which has disclosed that this revamped game will be launched through PSN, Xbox Live and the Wii U eShop this summer. For those who haven’t an idea about it, this is actually a remake of the 1989 NES classic which can be seen in the comparison image below. A host of fresh features will be introduced to it by its developer WayForward Technologies, known for titles like BloodRayne: Betrayal, Silent Hill: Book of Memories and more.

With DuckTales Remastered, the studio aims to bring a completely revamped experience by manes of a ‘gorgeous update,’ as the Capcom-Unity blog likes to put it. Firstly, it will be receiving high definition graphics that will be accompanied by hand-drawn animation which is a trademark of Disney’s cartoons from the beginning. It has been claimed that each and every frame of movement from the original offering has been ‘represented, redefined and expanded upon’ with this one.

And moreover, side characters that include the likes of Launchpad McQuack, Huey, Dewey and Louie will now have their own full appearances instead of the static cameos in which they were seen within the NES game. And that’s not all; there are going to be genuine voice-acting performances as well. All the surviving members from the much loved Disney Afternoon TV series have been roped in to breathe life into the characters who will be seen in the reworked title. Even 93 year-old Alan Young will be stepping back into the shoes of Scrooge McDuck for this game.

Capcom has revealed that other changes will also be making their way into the game. For instance, new controls, additional areas, a Duckburg museum for progress tracking, remixed music from classic videogames and even a money bin players will be able to swim in will be infused into it. Surely, the game is all set to evoke fond memories for those who’ve played and adored the original version.
