Arkane Confirms Deathloop Is Set In Dishonored Universe

Deathloop

Ever since Deathloop got into the hands of eager players last year, they have been speculating it to be set in the Dishonored universe. This conjecture has been confirmed to be true by none other than Dinga Bakaba, the creative director of the latest game from Arkane Studios.

The Xbox podcast was where he made this revelation, admitting that Deathloop is “one of the futures of the Dishonored world.” He added that it was “nice to see the community pick up the little clues that we did sprinkle everywhere that, yes, indeed, we envisioned Deathloop to be happening in the future.”

Bakaba also mentioned said that the clues for this were too far and few in between because the makers didn’t want to make a big deal about it. He described Deathloop as “its own story, with its own character, its own time period.”

Deathloop was released last September for PS5 and PC and was quick to grab rave reviews for its time loop-enhanced first-person shooter gameplay. A year later, it made its way to Xbox Series X/S consoles.

As for Dishonored, it was Arkane’s first game in the modern era. Released in 2012, it featured open-ended gameplay where players could choose between stealth, combat, or a combination of both. It starred Susan Sarandon, Carrie Fisher, Lena Headey and Chloe Grace Moretz, among others.

It was followed up by Dishonored 2, which came out in 2016 and replicated much of the success of the original. A year later, it got a standalone expansion pack called Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, which too received a great response from fans and critics alike.

While it has been confirmed now that Deathloop is, in a way, a sequel to the Dishonored series, it remains to be seen if a proper sequel to either of the two IPs is in the works or not.
