Dishonored: Definitive Edition will cost half its value if you own original copies

In a move that’s aimed at getting Dishonored fans to jump into the game again with its Definitive Edition, Bethesda has decided to provide a substantial discount to those who possess copies of the last-gen version. They’ll be needed to pay just half of the amount one would normally pay to purchase it.

Slated to hit the PS4 and the Xbox One next month, Dishonored: Definitive Edition was spotted bearing a $19.99 (instead of its normal $39.99) price tag by a Reddit user on PSN. It is believed that the Sony service automatically identifies if you’ve bought the game via the PS Store previously in order to provide you with the new price.

As for the Xbox One version, a representative of Bethesda has confirmed to Eurogamer that it will be eligible for the offer as well. But the question that remains is what will those who own physical copies of Dishonored do?

Bethesda has mentioned that the onus on the matter lies with physical retailers themselves. It has also revealed that they will indeed be offering some kind of discount, but has stopped short of elaborating on the topic further.

Dishonored: Definitive Edition is an enhanced version of the Arkane Studios’ 2012 stealth offering set in the fictional city of Dunwall. While the original game was released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, this graphically advanced edition will be launched for the PS4 and the Xbox One.
