Otherwise smooth Battlefield Hardline launch marred by DDoS attacks on Xbox One

Battlefield Hardline has been released finally, and while the game has had an overall steady launch, its Xbox One version has fallen prey to a DDoS attack unfortunately. Surely the developers have learned their lesson from BF 4, and have ensured that this title receives smooth online gameplay from day one, but there’s almost nothing they could have done to prevent such attacks. The PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game have not been affected by this development thankfully.

The folks who handle the @Battlefield Twitter handle were quick to acknowledge this attack. While saying that they are aware of title’s connectivity issues on Xbox One, they assured that they’re doing their best to get them resolved soon. For those unaware, DDoS attacks are orchestrated by wrongdoers by increasing the server load to an extremely high level by flooding the network of targeted servers. Due to this pressure, the servers go through severe slowdowns or even crash entirely.

Battlefield Hardline is a spin-off to the popular series created by DICE. Developed by Visceral Games, it offers first-person shooter gameplay and unlike entries from the main series, has its focus set on crime and heist elements instead of military warfare. The campaign follows Officer Nick Mendoza and his partner detective Khai Minh Dao who are needed to follow the drug supply chain of Miami to reach the source of the drug war that has taken over the territory.

Battlefield Hardline can be played now on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. The Xbox One version which has suffered a DDoS attack seems to be working without any hiccups at the moment.
