Rainbow Six: Siege to get a closed alpha on PC this week

Rainbow Six: Siege is all set to be released for PC and consoles later this year, but much before its actual launch, fans will be treated to a closed alpha by Ubisoft. This testing phase will run from April 7 to April 13, and can be signed up for right now. The first-person shooter from Ubisoft Montreal will be staying true to its tactical shooter roots, and will contain single-player as well as multiplayer gameplay. Meant for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, this game is expected to be showcased at this year’s E3, and that’s when we’re most likely to get some details about its release date.

Rainbow Six: Siege

Ubisoft has revealed that it will be using the closed alpha phase of Rainbow Six: Siege mainly to test core gameplay loops. Moreover, testing server infrastructure is also a priority, which is no surprise given the various awful experiences which recent games have given gamers owing to too much traffic. Lastly, the company will also be looking for general feedback on the game’s overall offerings, aside from reports of the many bugs that will need to be quashed since the game is still in its alpha stages.

Rainbow Six: Siege is actually considered to be a successor to Rainbow 6: Patriots, which was cancelled after a long time of being in development. Team-based gameplay and realism will be two main factors which the developers will be focusing their attention on. It is being built using the AnvilNext game engine which was also used by Assassin’s Creed Unity.
