Destiny release date for all versions to fall next September

A worldwide release date for Destiny has finally been disclosed by Bungie and Activision, who have announced that the game will be out for the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One as well as the PS3 and the PS4 on September 9, 2014. The two latter platforms are also slated to receive a beta of the game prior to its release, but a definite launch date for the same hasn’t been revealed as yet.

Destiny

This news was thrown out by Bungie by means of a blog post in which the developer has also talked about the progress of Destiny. Calling the game a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ for them, the makers have revealed that each new build of the game is bringing them even closer to their goal. Referring to the support shown by gamers and critics towards the title’s vision, Bungie has called it ‘inspiring and humbling.’

Destiny has been described as an online first-person shooter which will be fraught with massively multiplayer online game (MMO) elements. Events will take place in its world over which even the developers won’t have any control. This ‘alive’ world has been aimed at providing gamers with a dynamic experience altogether.

The original Halo developers have managed to create an entirely new universe for this title as well. Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future, and takes place in post-apocalyptic environments. After all the colonies which humans have established on other bodies from our solar system are destroyed, only those who were living on Earth survive.

But the Earth too is not free from danger, with aliens are threatening the existence of the human race here as well. You play as the Guardian, whose job it is to investigate and destroy these threats.
