Destiny is Halo-creator Bungie’s next game, Story details and Art leaked

Thanks to a major leak that occurred yesterday, we have details about Destiny which is the next big game being worked upon by Bungie – the studio responsible for the Halo franchise. Story details as well as concept artworks have sneaked out to the web, and the developer has now gone on to confirm the title’s existence, while still remaining mum about any other particulars. Although its genre is yet unknown, it has however come to light that the title will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 by Activision.

Destiny

A reader of IGN has somehow managed to lay their hands on the details and concept artworks of Destiny. The story document says that this title’s narrative starts seven hundred years in the future. It is set in place on Earth called the Last City, and features a Solar System that’s filled with the remains of man’s Golden Age. And then there’s a huge and mysterious alien ship that hangs overhead like a second Moon. While details of this ship are unknown to them, it is still recognized by the survivors as their protector.

The trouble starts when strange-looking alien monsters enter Earth from the edge of the universe. Their aim: to conquer Earth, and in the process, the Last City. Gamers will apparently play as young ‘knights’ who’re tasked with defending what remains of humanity. At the same time, they will even be forced to discover the source of these monsters, and finding ways to overcome them.

Furthermore, the document in question also describes the game as ‘fun and accessible to all.’ This effort by Bungie is said to have been aimed at creating a universe ‘as deep, tangible and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise.’ Out of many things that are uncertain is what gameplay model the title will adopt. A url called destiny.com is live now but is password-protected. This goes on to confirm that Destiny is indeed the final moniker of the game.

PS3 and Xbox 360 are the only two platforms the title’s been listed for, but judging by past leaks from Halo-creator Bungie, the possibility of it being aimed for next-gen consoles and PC cannot be ruled out.
