Payday: The Heist Launches On October 18

After suffering a last minute delay earlier this month, Payday: The Heist has finally received another release date, that of October 18. Sony and Overkill had cited the requirement of a ‘little more time’ for assembling the game as the reason for this delay.

However, Sony’s post yesterday on the PlayStation blog has confirmed that the co-op shooter is indeed on its way to the PS3 and is expected to be outed through next week’s PS Store update. This downloadable utilizes the Diesel engine which was also used to power Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West and more such titles. A PC release too is apparently on the cards for this title, but a definite launch date is yet to be announced.

Chris Sturr, Executive Director of Business Development, Sony Online Entertainment, posted on the blog, “SOE and the Overkill team have worked diligently to develop and create a game with the highest quality of content – which will give players continued replayabilty and hours of complex, death-defying heists in a never-ending pursuit of the next big score. We can’t wait for the launch of this highly anticipated game and are even more excited for players and fans to finally enjoy Payday: The Heist together online.”

This game will be offered for free to those who have purchased all four titles from Sony’s inaugural PSN Play program which was announced this August. These four titles comprise Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, The Baconing, BloodRayne: Betrayal and Renegade Ops.

Payday: The Heist will retail on PSN at a price of 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 986) when it releases on October 18, 2011.
