Super Smash Bros. Brawl Sells a Million Copies in Japan

Last week, we had reported that Super Smash Bros. Brawl had sold more than half a million copies in Japan. Keeping up with the momentum, the game that is known as Dairantou Smash Brothers X in Japan, has sold more than a million copies over there. The platformer is now the fastest selling Wii game.

If you look closely at the numbers, it seems that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is breaking a lot of records. Data from Media Create suggests that the game sold an enormous 820,000 units within its first two days. Usually chartbuster Japanese franchises like Final Fantasy, Pokemon and Dragon Quest do such business. Super Smash Bros. Brawl reached one million milestone in eleven days. Wii Sports took eleven weeks to reach that milestone in the land of the rising sun while Wii Fit took some seven weeks.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released for the Nintendo Wii on January 31, 2008 in Japan. The game will hit the American shores on March 9, 2008 while the European gamers can expect it in some time after that.
