After grabbing rave reviews for its role-playing adventure gameplay on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac, The Walking Dead will be seen making its debut on iOS this week. While two episodes of the title are available for other platforms right now, with the third one slated for an early August release, only the first episode will be released on the App Store on July 26, 2012.
A brand new interface design has made its way to this mobile version to suit the touchscreen displays of iOS devices. The Walking Dead asks gamers to make tough decisions, as they try to balance their relationships while fighting to stay alive in a world ravaged by a zombie apocalypse. The decisions made by them in the first episode (A New Day) will be carried over to the forthcoming ones, offering a tailored experience which could present a completely dissimilar story to different gamers.
Job Stauffer, Lead PR at Telltale Games, wrote on the developer’s official blog, “We’ve spent a great deal of time carefully integrating our new interface design to create an even more intuitive experience with the touch screen as you explore a world ravaged by the undead based on the Eisner Award-winning comics from Robert Kirkman and Skybound Entertainment. You’ll have full character control of Lee Everett as investigation points, actions, dialogue and decision making flows onscreen and is seamlessly integrated with the environments.”
This game won’t be compatible with the first-gen iPad. Supported devices include the iPad 2, the new iPad, the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S and 4th Generation iPods and above. Its second episode titled Starved for Help is still to receive a release date for iOS, but the developer has confirmed that it is receiving some ‘special development touches’ currently and is scheduled to release soon.
Episode one of The Walking Dead will hit the App Store on July 26 at a price of 4.99 USD (approx. Rs. 280). A Multi-Pack will also be available for those who wish to pre-purchase the upcoming episodes at a discounted price of 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 840).
