Back in October this year, Ubisoft revealed the existence of Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, a China-set game aimed at mobile platforms. Now, apparent footage from the said game has leaked online, showcasing the kind of gameplay it will feature.

As per a leaked video posted on Reddit, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade could feature full-fledged parkour mechanics. There is also a mention of stealth attacks in the footage, while familiar combat involving light and heavy attacks can also be seen.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade takes place in China and this purported clip appears to show a mission taking place on the Great Wall. It shows the protagonist leaping across a section of the wall while a village beyond it is under assault by the Xiongnu army.

Prompts for touchscreen controls are very much visible in this video that’s supposedly captured on an iPhone. The interface includes control prompts for movement on the left and attack on the right. A minimap, as well as objective markers, can both be spotted in the clip.

What’s also visible in the footage is a disclaimer stating “This is an early version of the game and does not represent the final quality of the product.” This more or less leads us to believe that the footage is very much authentic.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade will be preceded by Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a back-to-basics offering that will let go of the series’ recent focus on RPG elements and adopt its old-school stealth and combat approach. The Baghdad-set game is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade will most likely release after the said game. There are two more games in the Assassin’s Creed cannon in the form of Codename Red, set in feudal Japan and Codename Hex, which might feature some sort of witchcraft. Not much is known about them though.
