Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has finally been showcased with a new trailer that also reveals its release date. It will be released as a full-priced game at $59.99 on November 11. Physical copies will hit store shelves on December 7, however.
In case you’re unaware, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will include remastered versions of PS2 classics, GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. It will be released for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher.
Rockstar has revealed that the Definitive Edition will feature a “completely rebuilt lighting system; improved shadows, weather, and reflections; upgraded character and vehicle models; along with new higher resolution textures across buildings, weapons, roads, interiors, and more.” Draw distances have been improved as well, while new foliage has been added, and surfaces smoothened.
There’s more; fresh quality-of-life improvements have also been introduced to all three games. These include controls inspired by those of GTA 5, targeting improvements, lock-on aiming, updated weapon and radio station wheels, updated mini-maps, and more. The ability to immediately restart a failed mission has also been added.
It has been confirmed that the Switch versions of the games will include touchscreen support as well as gyro-based aiming. The PC version will support Nvidia DLSS with a wide array of graphics cards offering optimal performance, while the new-gen console versions of the three games will display at 4K, with up to 60fps performance.
Officially, Rockstar hasn’t said anything about the three games from the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition being released individually in the future, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they do.
