GTA Trilogy Remasters Get Confirmed, Coming To PC, Consoles, And Mobile

GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition

After being plagued by leaks, remasters of the GTA Trilogy have finally been confirmed by Rockstar Games. Packaged as Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, this bundle will include graphically updated versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. It will be released sometime later this year.

The trilogy marks the celebration of 20 years since the release of Grand Theft Auto III, the first 3D entry to the series that set the stage for the classics that were to follow. In many ways, this game was also influential in shaping open-world games in general. All three games from the Definitive Edition were originally developed with the PS2 in mind.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition is coming to the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch later this year. As for the iOS and Android versions, they will be launched in early 2022. The bundle will be available via the Rockstar Games Launcher, which is why the Steam versions of the original games will be taken down soon.

Rockstar Games said in a statement, “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will feature across-the-board upgrades including graphical improvements and modern gameplay enhancements for all three titles, while still maintaining the classic look and feel of the originals. We’re extremely excited to share more about these groundbreaking titles in the coming weeks — stay tuned!”

Meanwhile, Rockstar is still mum over GTA 6. Last we heard about it was when it was speculated that the game won’t be ready for a release until at least 2024 and will feature some sort of an evolving map feature.
