Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon gets a release date and a trailer

The Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon release date has been set by Ubisoft for May 1, with the publisher finally having gone official about it following a flurry of leaks that had occurred over the past few weeks. Set to launch through PSN, Xbox Live as well as PC, this standalone offering doesn’t require the titular game in order to run itself. Eager fans have received some respite, as a trailer for it has been set out by Ubisoft, complete with references to the 80s’ VHS era.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon

The game aims at recreating a vision of the future which was seemingly conceived during the 80s. This way, it’s actually set in 2007, but with cyborgs, neons and what not. Players will be asked to don the role of an eye-patched cyborg protagonist named Sergeant Rex Powercolt whose aim it is to rout a rogue cyborg army. And his voice is being provided by Hollywood icon Michael Biehn of the Aliens and The Terminator fame.

This new title had made itself shown a large number of times in the form of several leaks that had taken place recently. And the leaks were not even limited to its existence alone, as the game itself has managed to make its way out already owing to a flaw in Ubisoft’s Uplay service. Lots of footage resulting from this is available online for gamers to see right now.

Price information of this standalone offering hasn’t been revealed as yet. Although, Steam currently has it listed at 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 820). This means, its PSN price is also set to be the same. And as far as its Xbox Live cost is concerned, gamers can expect it to be 1200 Microsoft Points.

Those who’ve played the original FC3 should know that this new game has little or no connection to it in the story department. Gameplay-wise however, all the important mechanics that made the original game such a delight to indulge in have been retained by the developers.
