Even after so many past leaks, Ubisoft still chooses to stay mum about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, even as a few screenshots of the purported expansion have been outed through another leak. This regular string of appearances of the title’s promotional materials somehow goes on to suggest that it is more of a deliberate teaser campaign than irresponsible leaks on the part of Ubisoft. The new screenshots bear a look that is entirely different from the one that the original game which came out late last year did.

This expansion has been in the talks since a long time now, and it’s about time its makers come up with some official details about it. Gamers might remember the crazy teaser website which appeared a few days back, giving away a peculiar video of the title. And now, with the screenshots, it has been more than confirmed that this offering should have little or nothing to do with the original FC3, in terms of story. A chain gun, a nuclear weapon, neon lighting, red skies and futuristic machinery are some of the things that can be grabbed from these images.

According to its description on the above mentioned site, it will be set in the year 2007 which is being described as ”˜the future.’ The backstory involves Earth having been desolated by a nuclear war, forcing humans to scrounge for new paths to peace. Amongst all this, the U.S. cyborg army appears to have found a solution – a powerful bioweapon located on a distant island. Assigned on duty is a Mark IV Cyber Commando named Sergeant Rex Power Colt who must gather information and try to find out ”˜what the hell is going on.’

Spotted by us on NeoGAF, the new screenshots have certainly got fans excited about this offering with their unique looks. But there’s still no word from Ubisoft about when and in what form it will be coming out, let alone the platform and pricing information. In the meantime, those who haven’t played the original FC3 should certainly do so, for it is indeed a treat worth experiencing. We’ll have more on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon when additional details are out.
