Resident Evil 6 to receive retro costumes as DLC

The makers of Resident Evil 6 have a treat lined up for those who miss the classic games that came to define the series back in the days. The skins that can be seen the images below are coming to this title in the form of DLC. But these skins would not be purchasable, as they will be doled out to participants of an upcoming online multiplayer event, only if the conditions set by Capcom are met.

Based on classic RE games, these skins exhibit blocky and angular designs, whereas they also feature traditional outfits worn by the respective characters. The first opportunity for gamers to be able to grab them is coming up on December 28. On that date, the Residentevil.net service will be launching an online multiplayer event called ‘Zombie Mayhem.’ Under it, all RE6 players are being asked to join forces and kill as many zombies as possible.

And if they all manage to ramp up 15 million total kills worldwide, each of the participants will granted one skin from this set. As for the other remaining skins, details about the online events that will be held to dole those out will be announced later on. Resident Evil 6 was recently also infused with three new multiplayer modes for its Xbox 360 version. Dubbed Predator, Survivors and Onslaught, these modes are still to be confirmed for the title’s PS3 variant and the upcoming PC edition.

The Predator mode has up to six players jump into the shoes of the Ustanak as they fight it out in a series of quick fire rounds. Survivors on the other hand, is described as RE6’s take on the classic solo and team based deatchmatch mode. Finally, the Onslaught mode is all about chaining combos while battling in two-player co-op stages that ask gamers to clear out waves of oncoming enemies. On Xbox Live, each mode is individually priced at 320 Microsoft Points, but all three can be purchased collectively as well, at a cost of 720 Microsoft Points.
