Darksiders II Release Pushed to August

Gamers longing for June to arrive just so they can get to jump into Vigil Games’ hack and slash fiesta, Darksiders II, will now have a trifle more waiting to do, as the game has been delayed till August, 2012. The developer has noted that this is ‘great news’ for the Vigil developers, as it’ll be able to utilize the added time for polish, and to make certain that the title reaches the ‘high quality bar’ which the team is targeting.

The necessity of achieving this high quality threshold has been revealed to be the only reason for the delay. The developer has also disclosed that the exact release details will be announced on a later date, and they will vary by region. Vigil Games has even gone on to make it clear that this delay has nothing to do with aligning the game’s launch with Nintendo’s next generation console, the Wii U.

“Darksiders II will be moving to release globally in August 2012, rather than June as previously announced. It’s just a short delay, but we promise the game you’ll have in August will be well worth the wait! This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting. In game development, more time is always a good thing for quality and the Vigil team is dedicated to providing the definitive Darksiders experience,” read a blog post on the Darksiders II official website.

Despite this holdup, the game content will remain the same and so will the DLC plans. This title follows the same developer’s 2010 offering named Darksiders which was outed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The latest entrant is a parallel sequel to the original game, and will look to deliver the same hack and slash, action-adventure offerings which were loved by many a gamer in the previous iteration.

Darksiders II can be pre-ordered now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,090). It’ll be released sometime in August.
