More Assassin’s Creed III Details are Here, First Gameplay Trailer Out Too

Gamers wondering how Assassin’s Creed III will actually play out once it’s out can have a peek at its first ever gameplay trailer which was released by Ubisoft yesterday. From vast green battlefields and snow-clad hills to trees and even houses; new protagonist Connor will be able to tread all these environments while exhibiting the series’ trademark combat skills.

Whatever gameplay bits have made their way into this trailer are devoid of any HUD, so we’ll have to wait a little more to see what the title will look like in its entirety. That’s probably because the footage in the video is that of a pre-alpha build of the much anticipated game. Said to be based on speed and dexterity, the basics of Connor’s character supposedly help him in moving from one kill to another in a seamless and unbroken pace. This game will mark the first time in the series that players will be able to use building interiors to obscure their escapes.

“On top of the incredibly fluid combat, Connor is generally more agile and deft in his movements, easily able to employ all of the trademark maneuvers of the Assassin,” wrote Gabriel Graziani, Community Developer, Ubisoft, on the official PlayStation blog. “Now, however, Connor can travel through the trees as effortlessly as he sprints across rooftops and, for the first time in the Assassin’s Creed series, barrel through open windows, using building interiors to obscure his escape!”

Assassin’s Creed III is slated to release for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 30, 2012, while its PC and Wii U counterparts are yet to be dated. It is the first AC game to contain a Native American setting, and will mark the debut of Ubisoft’s new AnvilNext engine. A number of special editions of this game are up for pre-order now, offering various bonuses items.

More details about Assassin’s Creed III are expected to be revealed by Ubisoft in the coming months. We’ll keep gamers posted with all the latest developments regarding the title.
