Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Trailer and Details Out

Those itching to know more about Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, which somehow couldn’t sneak out of the MGS 25th anniversary event, can look no further, as we have them right here along with some gameplay footage of the title. This of course is an open-world game for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and contrary to the buzz, it is neither Project Ogre nor MGS 5, thus indicating that these two games are one and the same.

It was also being sad that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is a next-gen title, but this speculation too has been put to rest by the announcement of the platforms. Until now, the Fox Engine was demonstrated solely as next-gen technology, but despite that, the game has been created using the same engine. At the MGS 25th anniversary event which was held in Japan last week, Ground Zeroes made its debut behind closed doors during a showcase of the engine. And PAX Prime 2012 this weekend, the demo was delivered to western audiences. It can be spotted below.

As can be seen in the footage, it starts with an in-engine cinematic located near a rain-drenched prison camp. The authentically shaky camera pans left and right, showing the engine’s capabilities in the advanced shader, lighting and particle effects departments. Towards the end of the cinematic, a disfigured man exits the scene, making way for the camera to freefall its way to a cliff which is being climbed by Naked Snake (Big Boss).

According to the official PlayStation blog, during the demonstration, Hideo Kojima mentioned nearby that APCs and helicopters will be available to be controlled by Snake. They will even be able to drop a flare anytime they wish in order to call upon a helicopter, and fly between missions and to other countries.

We haven’t been able to get a clear idea about the Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes release date details yet. A movie based on the beloved series was also announced last week.
