Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Revealed in Fox Engine demo

It’s true indeed; a new MGS game titled Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been witnessed by a select few in Japan. The game was previewed during a demonstration of the much talked about Fox Engine at the 25th anniversary event of the MGS series, but those present there were apparently asked not to click any pictures of the presentation.

Hideo Kojima

Citing a few Tweets coming in from the event, Kotaku has deciphered that this is an open-world game. Ground Zeroes is all set to be the first game to support the new Fox Engine. The demo it seems ran on PC, but the Fox Engine has been designed keeping next-gen consoles in mind. This puts a doubt on which generation of machines this title will be launched for.

Mark MacDonald, from 8-4 Games was present at the occasion and his Tweets have thrown some light on the game that’s on everyone’s mind currently. According to him, the Fox Engine demo had Snake crawling around in his trademark stealth style, while avoiding searchlights. He then killed a guard, rode a jeep and called in a helicopter for evacuation.

Apparently, gameplay bits were also showcased by the video. And this led to the revelation that the title is set in an open world environment. Hideo Kojima has been teasing a game titled Project Ogre for quite some time now, and by the looks of it, Ground Zeroes seems to be that game.

Neither Konami nor Kojima Productions has decided to go official about Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. We’ll have more about it when new information is out.
