Frozenbyte has officially announced the expansion pack to Trine 2 called Goblin Menace. It is scheduled to hit Steam for PC and Mac on September 6, 2012. The pack adds an all-new campaign with 6 unique levels and new skills, all of which will also find a place in the original game. Now in the run up to the release, the original game on Steam has received an update in the form of a ‘major’ 2GB patch, so that players don’t face issues with the multiplayer feature.

“We wanted to give our loyal fans something extra and also get some early feedback before the official launch. The Goblin Menace is compatible with the original Trine 2 in multiplayer, and this is one of the areas we want to focus on during the beta test. We’ve been working on the Goblin Menace for almost a year and are very proud of it. We can’t wait for all the feedback!” Lauri Hyvärinen, CEO of Frozenbyte, enthused.

To ensure smooth multiplayer over the Trine 2 community, a small portion of work is still ongoing and includes quite a bit of minor gameplay changes and additions as well as technical fixes. Besides, the developers are also working on an arrow indicator for other players in multiplayer.

Just as a refresher, the Trine 2: Goblin Menace price and release date details are as follows. It will cost 8 USD or 7 euros (approx. Rs. 445) and will be available starting September 6 on Steam. Early buyers will receive a small discount in the price, while it will come to the Mac App Store and for Linux a little later. Goblin Menace will also be included in the version for the Wii U.
