SOCOM 4 Online Co-op to Offer Customized Play

Last month, Zipper Interactive informed us that their highly awaited SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs will release in April this year. The developer has now divulged details about the game’s online co-op modes and missions through a post on the US PlayStation blog.

The upcoming action title has been crafted with a cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing a maximum of five players to jump into numerous dynamic missions. It features two gameplay quests dubbed Takedown and Espionage. The former unfolds a search mission, requiring gamers to neutralize opposing VIPs in an enemy territory. Players are necessitated to work as a team in the latter for collecting important data. This information has been plugged to be expedient for tracking adversaries and destroying their local operations.

Every mission in the co-op play has been developed with enough space to offer customized levels of difficulty and enemy density. Players can adjust the overall complexity while also determining the number of opponents before initiating a level. It has been stated that as gamers progress with the narrative, they will have to rely more on teamwork while fighting in the backdrop of various environments. Further, the game also calls for a stealthy and covert approach through its several situations.

The reply section of the post has brought other elements to the light as Jeremy Dunham and Chris Roper from Zipper Interactive clarified numerous doubts. Revelations state that the game supports online multiplayer mode alone with three difficulty levels including Easy, Normal and Hard. Further, up to 32 players can simultaneously enter competitive multiplayer modes whereas only five gamers can indulge in co-op play at the same time. Besides, the single player campaign has been designed to offer four difficulty stages in Easy, Normal, Hard and Elite.

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs will launch on April 19, 2011 across the North American continent. Gamers who own a copy of the recently released Killzone 3 can hold on to the SOCOM 4 beta code which has been packed with it. More details about the latter’s beta are expected to surface next week.
