Total War: Rome 2 release date steps out

The Total War: Rome 2 release date has been announced by Sega to have been set for September 3, 2013. The said date will mark the game’s launch for PC through retail as well as digital channels. Moreover, the publisher also revealed the title’s pre-order bonus and details regarding its Collector’s Edition pack which comes loaded with a number of in-game and real world goodies which include a working catapult.

Available for pre-order now at the Sega Store as well as other big retailers, this game is being developed by The Creative Assembly, a studio specializing in the turn-based strategy genre. All those who decide to book their copies beforehand, will be granted a pre-order bonus in the form of a free download of the game’s first DLC on day one. This content is called the Greek States Culture Pack, and it brings into the game three additional playable factions – Epirus, Athens and Sparta. All three come with their own peculiar units, buildings, missions and win conditions for players to explore.

And as far as the title’s Collector’s Edition is considered, it has been announced that only 22,000 units will be concocted by Sega. Filled with various custom, Roman-themed items, it will be packed inside a leather-effect presentation box, affixed with a gold logo and magnetic closure. Its contents include a Tabula set which is an ancient form of Backgammon comprising of 30 bone-effect game pieces provided inside a burlap drawstring bag, with the board itself having been etched into the base of the Collector’s Edition box.

Moreover, three replica bone-effect dice which have their design based on original Roman Tesserae have been added to the pack as well, apart from a set of Punic cards modeled around the strategy game. And then there’s also a ribbon-tied canvas map showcasing all the 57 provinces included in the title’s campaign. The final item inside this Collector’s Edition is also its most interesting one. It is a fully-functional Onager or catapult made from weathered wood and steel.

Total War: Rome 2 is now available for pre-order at a price of 59.95 USD (approx. Rs. 3,270), while its Collector’s Edition can be booked by shelling out 155 USD (approx. Rs. 8,450).
