Google Play Games was being expected to hit the Android realm since quite some time, and it looks like the service will be arriving pretty soon now. Apparently, the company has given out a new version of GP Services to the website. Dubbed v3.1.36, this copy is slowly arriving on various devices right now. And the update is a big one considering that the current version that most of the Android devices have is v3.0.27. The aforementioned site has done a full teardown on this file, and have discovered interesting details regarding the features that could be added later on.

Synced saves could become a reality, even as it has been noticed that Android device owners would be able to continue their progresses on different gadgets. Supposedly, this option will be available in the Accounts and Sync section within the Settings component, alongside Gmail, Calendar and other services. Moreover, evidence of invites and matchmaking have been spotted as well, along with a lobby of some kind for the same.

About this aspect, it’s being said that players will be able to enter and leave rooms, as well as invite others into rooms. And all this will purportedly be accompanied by a chat function. Achievements for Android have till now been powered by third party components like Scoreloop and Openfeint, but that could change, for the new service will seemingly come with its own system for rewarding players for their in-game antics. And then of course, there’s leaderboard support as well.

The features of this apparent service indeed resemble those offered by Apple’s Game Center. Official details about Google Play Games are expected to be disclosed at the company’s I/O event which is set to commence on May 15 and go on till May 17 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, US.
