XCOM: Enemy Unknown Release Date Announced

Firaxis Games’ much anticipated XCOM: Enemy Unknown has finally been dated by publisher Take-Two Interactive for October this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Several pre-order bonuses as well as a special PC-exclusive version with a number of XCOM items have also been announced.

All those who pre-order their copies of the game will be furnished with the Elite Soldier Pack which is said to contain the ultimate tools for soldier customization in this RTS. The content will include the classic X-COM Soldier inspired from the original X-COM: UFO Defense, some soldier deco packs for gamers to customize their characters and a complete color customization feature for all armor sets within the game.

Sarah Anderson, senior vice president of marketing for 2K, shared, “As we reimagine XCOM, one of our goals is to evolve the experience while recognizing what made X-COM one of the greatest PC games to date. It’s important to create an experience that is appealing to both existing fans and newcomers to the world of XCOM, which is what we’re doing with XCOM: Enemy Unknown.”

Only for PC, a special edition of the title will be launched through participating retailers. Priced at 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,320), this version will comprise an art book, a fold-out poster of the XCOM headquarters, an XCOM insignia patch and a collection of digital bonus assets such as desktop wallpapers, soundtrack and more.

The standard edition of XCOM: Enemy Unknown can be pre-ordered now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC at 49.99 USD (approx. Rs 2,765). It will be released worldwide on October 12, 2012.
