FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 Confirmed as Wii U Launch Titles

Joining Mass Effect 3 and other huge games in the lineup of launch titles for the upcoming Wii U are FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 from EA Sports. A holiday launch has been confirmed for the console, but Nintendo is yet to spill the beans on the exact release date.

The newest entry to the much acclaimed FIFA series will kick in a number of special features revolving around the Wii U GamePad controller. Players will be able to lift the controller in order to look through its touchscreen and aim the ball on set pieces and penalty kicks. They will even get to add curves to their shots by making use of the touchscreen. Another function revealed by EA Sports enables gamers to shake the controller to activate ‘Touch Screen Shooting.’

Andrew Wilson, Head of EA Sports, commented, “We challenged our teams to develop innovations designed specifically for the Wii U, and to create new ways to play that would bring players of all abilities together. Our teams have truly delivered creative new football experiences with FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 for the Wii U.”

In addition, the new Madden NFL game has also been revealed to feature exclusive Wii U controls. These include streamlined playcalling, pre-snap adjustments and personnel management, which will all be possible through the controller’s touchscreen.

FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 will be launched for the Wii U on the same date as that of the said console. For other platforms, these games will be arriving in September and August, respectively.
