The Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC, the news of which was divulged by a voice actor from the game last month, has been officially announced by BioWare and EA. It will come out this summer for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Moreover, August 7 marks the date on which a new Firefight weapons pack for the single-player mode will be doled out for all three platforms. And it has also been revealed that the game will be a launch title for the Wii U.
The Leviathan single-player content is said to plunge players into the darkest corners of space. They will be tasked with pursuing a strange being, rumored to have enough strength to obliterate a Reaper. Gamers will be racing against time, as they discover uncharted systems and new areas on the Citadel. These missions will also offer insights into the history of the Reapers’ origins. Brand new characters and weapons (AT-12 Raider shotgun and M-55 Argus Assault Rifle) will form part of the DLC as well.
“Something lurks in the dark corners of space, something powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must discover the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever. Discover more about the origins of the Reapers as you race across the galaxy to find the Leviathan. Unravel the dark history of the Reaper Race before it is too late. Coming later this summer there is no war, only the harvest,” explained a post on the official BioWare blog.
The Firefight pack will feature two powerful new weapons and five bonus weapons which will be usable in the single-player missions. Although the game has been announced as a launch title for the Wii U, Nintendo’s much hyped console still remains without a release date. This version of Mass Effect 3 will of course kick in a fresh control scheme designed around the GamePad controller. It will ship with the Extended Cut content as well as the other free DLC packs released for the game’s multiplayer mode.
The Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC will arrive later this summer, and will be priced at 10 USD (approx. Rs. 560) or 800 Microsoft Points, while the Firefight pack will be out on August 7, with its price tagged at 2 USD (approx. Rs. 110) or 120 Microsoft Points.
