2K Sports announced yesterday that NBA 2K12 which is slated to release this October, will include an ‘NBA’s Greatest’ mode allowing gamers to play as basketball legends from 15 historic NBA teams. These players include Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving among others.
Through the NBA’s Greatest mode, gamers will be able to even pit today’s players against the yesteryear ones allowing luminaries like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to face the likes of Kobe Bryant or set in opposition, Johnson’s Lakers and Jordan’s Bulls. This way, gamers would be capable of reconstructing some of the fiercest rivalries to have taken place in the sport.
Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports, revealed, “The NBA 2K franchise has become an essential part of the NBA culture, and our fans can now take control of legendary teams and athletes from the NBA’s rich history. With ‘NBA’s Greatest’ mode, NBA 2K12 will allow fans to prove once and for all who are the greatest basketball icons of all time.”
The previous game in the series, 2K11 featured a ‘Jordan Challenge’ which required gamers to follow his career accomplishments. Also included in the game was the ability to play with some classic teams in stadiums from the past. It was released in October last year.
NBA 2K12 which is supposed to feature the ‘NBA’s Greatest’ mode will be made available on October, 4, 2011 for the PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and PC. This title can currently be pre-ordered from major retailers.
