Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Revealed

Two of the oldest and most popular video game icons, Mario and Sonic, will be coming together one more time in the Olympic based video game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Previously, the two superheroes had paired up in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. The new game is based in Vancouver, Canada which hosts the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, developed by Sega Japan, will feature all new Olympic Winter Games events including Speed Skating and Alpine Skiing.

Nintendo DS and Wii gamers will have almost totally different experiences since each platform will have specific modes and features unique to that platform. All kinds of players can enjoy the controls of the DS and Wii systems in single and multiplayer modes. The Wii offers an even deeper multiplayer feel. The Wii balance board can be used for some events in ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games’ in conjunction with the Wii to give added realism.

“To once again have Mario and Sonic and friends compete in Olympic sports and events in a winter setting is tremendously exciting for the Olympic Movement and the millions of gamers worldwide who enjoyed the characters’ previous match up,” commented Raymond Goldsmith, Chairman and CEO of International Sports Multimedia (ISM).

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is scheduled to hit stores by the end of 2009. After Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games sold more than 10 million copies, we will be waiting to see how this one does.
