EA have given out a few more details of their latest venture, Godfather 2 and have announced that its launch will be slightly delayed.
“The Godfather 2 is taking the open-world genre in an entirely new direction by combining the furious combat of acting like a mobster, with the strategic gameplay of thinking like a Don,” commented Hunter Smith, executive producer for Godfather 2. “As game makers, when we looked at what lies at the heart of the Godfather universe, we discovered a game focused around organized crime.
Smith added, “The Corleones and all the other families schemed and fought to gain access and control of different territories, so that they could control the flow of money in those areas. This underlying battle cloaked secrecy is what The Godfather 2 and mafia life is all about, and we wanted players to be in control as a Don and make those strategic decisions to lead their families to success.”
Players get a chance to rule the Corleone family as the Don and see the 1960’s world like it was. Godfather 2 will intertwine the game world with many events form the movie like the Senate investigation of organized crime, the blackmailing of Senator Geary and the meeting of the Dons in Cuba. Godfather 2 lets players make the call in the ultimate organized crime experience.
Godfather 2 will be releasing on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC systems. As an added bonus, only players who pre-order The Godfather 2 from participating retailers around the world will be given an exclusive crew member, Tommy Cipolla, whom they can hire into their family.
EA have moved back the release date of Godfather 2 by about a month. The game will now be released on April 7, 2009 in North America and April 10, 2009 in Europe.
