Just last month, the Digital Comics Reader for the PSP was announced. Although the service wasn’t out as yet, comic book fans could get their hands on a free issue of Star Trek: Year Four – The Enterprise Experiment. Now according to the official PlayStation blog, the digital comics service for the Sony PSP has finally launched. With this unveiling, fans will be spoiled for choice with loads of different digital comics at their disposal.
The latest PSP firmware update v6.20 already includes a Digital Comics reader application. This can be accessed from the XMB located under the Extras icon. PSP owners can espy these digital comic offerings on the PlayStation Store and can directly access it from their portable console or through MediaGo on the PC. There is a new tab dedicated to comics just near the game and video tabs. At present, the digital comics store is only available in the U.S.
The digital comic store also sports a free comics section from where fans can download an assortment of comics for no charge at all. There is a great spread of titles dished out from Disney, Marvel, IDW Publishing and many more. The digital comics service includes an Autoflow feature which enables readers to easily zoom in and out of a page as well as move frames or pages through the comic. An integrated music player allows them to also listen to music stored on their PSP while enjoying the digital comics.
