Fans of Capcom’s Monster Hunter series seem to be getting another bonus. The game was called Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G when it was released on March 27, 2008 in Japan.

Michael Pattison, Senior Marketing Director of Capcom Europe commented, “Working closely with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to promote the latest title in the Monster Hunter franchise allows Capcom access to all of Sony’s promotional channels, including PlayStation websites, community pages and PlayStation Home. A series of events and print and on-line advertising will support a heavy weight TV advertising program. The support of Sony on this title is a clear indication that Monster Hunter can be successful across the West.”

“We are looking forward to working closely with Capcom to promote Monster Hunter Freedom Unite,” said David Reeves, President SCEE. “With the combined efforts of both companies we want to emulate the success that the title has had in Japan.”

The Monster Hunter series was such a huge hit in Japan partly due to the multiplayer hunts. A demo of the game will be available for download on the PlayStation Network across the PAL territories prior to the game’s launch. The demo is to have three quests to give players a sample of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, in which players can play alone or with the feline companion by their side, or even in a team of four. There will also be a PSP bundle which includes a copy of the game and a specially designed Monster Hunter branded PSP skin and pouch.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will release on June 26, 2009 and will have a huge promotional campaign throughout the PAL territories to go along, while prices for the game have not been announced yet. The demo will be released a few weeks before the game.
