Killzone 2 has surpassed many expectations and set many new standards in the world of gaming, even setting the bar higher for all future games to come. The game has even had downloadable content and a PS3 bundle.
Now Sony Computer Entertainment America and MLG Gamebattles have announced the Killzone 2 Online Championships. According to the PlayStation Blog , teams will consist of four players and registrations are officially open and only US residents thirteen years or older will be allowed to register. Prizes, which are worth more than 60,000 USD (almost 30 lakh rupees), are available in total. Some of the most prized items include Helghast uniforms which cost more than 8,000 USD (approx. Rs. 3 lakh 97 thousand) each and replicas of the StA 52 Helghast assault rifles.
Of the total number of teams that enter, only the top 16 teams will be able to win prizes. The one team that places first will receive Killzone 2 T-Shirts, DLC codes and authentic KZN Helghast Suits, and the team that comes in second will also win DLC codes and Killzone 2 T-Shirts, plus StA 52 assault rifle replicas. The two teams that come in third will win collectible KZN Busts or Helmets, Killzone 2 T-Shirts and DLC codes, and the four teams placing fifth will receive Killzone 2 T-Shirts plus DLC codes, while the remaining 8 teams coming in at ninth place will get Killzone 2 T-Shirts.
The registrations are open till June 21, 2009 and the ladder part of the tournament runs from May 6, 2009 to June 28, 2009. The bracketed online playoff part of the tournament will commence on July 1, 2009 and end on July 31, 2009. In order to register, players must be active and registered members of the “GameBattles Site”.
