If Sony PSP was the leading hardware this year in Japan, then shouldn’t a PSP game be the top selling game over there? Well, that’s what has happened in the Land of the Rising Sun. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, the action game for the PlayStation Portable, is the top selling game in Japan.
Gaming blog Kotaku is reporting that figures from Dengeki Online, a consumer site from Japan, has confirmed that Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G is the top selling game with Pokemon Platinum, Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl making it to the top five. Most of the titles in the list of top thirty games for Japan in 2008 belong to Nintendo consoles.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PlayStation 3 was in the top half of the table. Of the list of the top thirty titles made by Dengeki Online, the last game on the chart was the Nintendo DS game, New Super Mario Bros. Microsoft would be disappointed with the list as none of the games on the chart belonged to the Xbox 360.
