PS4 is ready for v2.50 update which adds new Rest Mode

Sony has just announced that one of the main advertised features of the PS4 is all set to be granted to the console through its upcoming 2.50 update. Codenamed ‘Yukimura,’ this update includes the much touted Rest Mode which will allow owners of the system to suspend and resume their games later without actually turning off the console. This upcoming firmware release is also supposed to include a feature that will let you choose the framerate of Remote Play and Share Play attributes.

PS4 Rest Mode

Sony had revealed the PS4’s Rest Mode back when it had originally unveiled the system, and it has taken around two years for it to finally arrive. Meant to allow gamers to jump in and out of their games faster, this feature lets you suspend the console to put it in a low energy conserving state. Once you’re ready to get back into the game, all you need to do is press the PS button, and you can carry on from where you left off without going through the usual interface that greets you when you start the console.

A few other user-requested traits will also be released through the PlayStation 4’s Yukimura update. These include the ability to convert a sub-account to a master account directly from the PS4, deeper Facebook integration and a few Trophy Improvements. Moreover, the Share button will now also allow you to upload your gameplay videos on the Dailymotion website.

No definite release date has been disclosed for this new PS4 v2.50 update however. We’ll have more on it when additional details regarding its arrival are out in the open.
