The Last of Us to receive new ‘harder’ difficulty mode in final DLC

There’s more to come for fans of the single-player version of The Last of Us. A new and harder difficulty mode for the game is being prepped up by Naughty Dog for release through its new final Season Pass DLC which is also set to introduce fresh multiplier content. This announcement was made along with the release of a behind the scenes documentary on the development process of the game. It can be spotted in the space below.

The Last of Us

The single-player campaign of The Last of Us already features four difficulty settings in the form of Easy, Normal, Hard and Survivor, the final one among which is unlocked on completion of the story. This new difficulty mode which is set to be included in the final DLC pack is expected to be in the same vein as that of BioShock Infinite’s 1999 Mode.

It will be laced with new multiplayer content moreover. This includes fresh maps, weapons and skills, according to Naughty Dog’s community manager, Eric Monacelli who disclosed this information though a blog post. There’s no word out right now as to what this DLC pack will be called, or when it will be released. The Last of Us has already been blessed with two Season Pass content packs. One among them is the Abandoned Territories Map Pack which was released in October last year and the second one is the much acclaimed Left Behind DLC which came out last month.

Fans will be able to extract still more hours from the campaign of The Last of Us once this new DLC is out. We’ll have more on it when more details about it are released.
