Carmageddon: Reincarnation coming to Steam Early Access this month

March 27 is the date on which Carmageddon: Reincarnation will be arriving in the form of a pre-alpha version through the Steam Early Access program. Developer Stainless Games has confirmed this news by means of a new press release, and has also revealed that its Kickstarter backers will be able to get into it two weeks prior to the said date. A price for this game hasn’t been revealed however.

A video showcasing the progress of the title has also been released, and can be spotted in the space below. As can be observed, development is still at a very early stage. Carmageddon: Reincarnation is set to revive the controversial ‘points for pedestrians’ destruction derby style which was made famous by its ancient predecessors. The first game was released in 1997, whereas its sequel had come out in 1998.

Carmageddon: Total Destruction Racing 2000 or Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000 had been launched in 2000. This new entry will see Stainless Games once again returning to their series. Following various changes in the publishing department, the game finally settled for Kickstarter funding. $400,000 was set as the initial goal, but the title managed to raise $625,143 at the end of its run. Additional funding received by the developers later on confirmed a next–gen release as well. The game will now be launched for the PS4 and Xbox One, apart from PC, Mac and Linux.

The wait for Steam users to get into Carmageddon: Reincarnation will finally be over on March 27, but what remains to be seen is what kind of a pricing model this pre-alpha version carries with it.
