Gran Turismo 6 to feature micro-transactions, game available for pre-order digitally

Gran Turismo 6 has just been revealed to be a game which will kick in micro-transactions, a feature which has received a lot of criticism in the past for its presence even in AAA games. In-game credits which will be used mostly for buying new cars will be purchasable online, Sony has revealed. Apart from that, it has also come to light that the Gran Turismo 6 will be made available for download through the PS Store on day one of its release, making it the first game from the series to do so.

Through a post on the official EU PlayStation blog, it has been conveyed that Gran Turismo 6 will feature in-game credits ranging from 500,000 to 7 million. These will be purchasable online as well as through retailers. Once bought, you’ll be able to apply them to the game in order to purchase cars and parts. It is not sure how much these credits will sell for however. The image above gives us a breakdown of how much the cars will cost in terms of the in-game credits.

Furthermore, Sony has disclosed that both the standard as well as special editions of Gran Turismo 6 will be made available digitally via the PS Store. The latter will come equipped with a bunch of in-game items that include 20 extra cars from the title’s Torque, Performance, Adrenaline and Velocity packs, custom PSN avatars, paint chips, race suits and race helmets. Moreover, those who pre-order either of the two editions digitally will be getting the Precision Pack for free.

Gran Turismo 6 is slated to hit the PS3 on December 6.
