The Last of Us release date pushed forward

The original release date of The Last of Us has been shoved aside by Sony to make way for some more development time, the company revealed yesterday through post on the official PlayStation blog. The delay is not a big one however, but has nonetheless left eager fans upset. Naughty Dog’s PS3-exclusive post-apocalyptic action-adventure has now been pinned for a launch on June 14, instead of May 7, extending gamers’ wait by just over a month’s time. This applies to European as well as North American regions.

The Last Of Us

The push in the launch of The Last of Us doesn’t come without a reason, and Neil Druckmann, who’s the creative director at Naughty Dog, has mentioned the same in the blog post. Describing the title’s story mode as the ‘longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made,’ he has gone on to stress that the massive vision of this journey demands a lot of detail. The developers over at the studio have apparently come to realize that a few extra weeks will be needed so as to make sure that the game meets their ‘internal high standards;’ hence the delay.

And this we believe in, as we’re yet to see a recent game from Naughty Dog that can be described as substandard, let alone disappointing. Right from the Crash Bandicoot days, the company has been doling out awesome games at us, be it from the Jak and Daxter series or the massive Uncharted franchise which formed the base for three of its latest titles. And what we’re more excited about right now is what its plans are for the PS4 which could be revealed on February 20.

But prior to laying our hands on the next-gen console, we’ll be getting to play the developer’s newest outing of course. This game focuses on the two protagonists, Joel and Ellie, who’re trying to make their way through a post-apocalyptic United States which is filled with infected creatures and rogue humans. Apart from this single-player experience, it will also feature a multiplayer component, the details about which are extremely scarce as of now.

The Last of Us is available for pre-order currently in the form of standard as well as special editions which come with various bonus items.
