Quantic Dream, the maker of 2010’s acclaimed psychological thriller Heavy Rain, made its presence felt at the E3 by unveiling a new PS3 exclusive named Beyond: Two Souls. As we announced in our coverage of the Sony E3 press conference, one of the highlights of the game is that it has Oscar nominee Ellen Page in the lead role of Jodie Holmes.

Since her childhood, Jodie has always been different from everyone else. She has been blessed with supernatural powers. These come through her psychic link, to an invisible entity she prefers to call Aiden. Needless to say, these powers have flipped the course of Jodie’s life forever. And Beyond: Two Souls allows gamers to experience some of the most striking moments of her existence, with their decisions having direct effects on Jodie’s fate.
“In Beyond: Two Souls you will experience the most striking moments of Jodie’s life as your actions and decisions determine her fate. You’ll also be able to take full control of both Jodie and the entity in spectacular action and adventure scenes. And as Jodie traverses the globe, you will face incredible challenges in emotionally charged events never before seen in a video game,” Ross Alexander, Product Manager, Sony, wrote on the official PlayStation blog.

It has also been confirmed by Sony that this game will be powered by a brand new engine that promises to deliver one of the ”˜best-looking games ever seen on a PS3.’ The developer’s last outing came in 2010 with Heavy Rain which told the story of four protagonists who’re involved with the mystery of the Origami Killer, a serial killer who used periods of rainfall to passively, through their parents’ inaction, drown his victims.
Beyond: Two Souls is yet to be bestowed with a release date. We’ll bring more about the title as and when new information is available.
